Currency notes in short supply in Uttarakhand: Rawat

Uttarakhand Chief Minister Harish Rawat today asked the Centre to bring both low value currency and the newly introduced high value currency notes in circulation in Uttarakhand in adequate measure saying their paucity for a prolonged period will adversely affect supplies putting common people in trouble.
In a letter to Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Rawat said both newly introduced high value currency notes and low value old currency notes were in short supply in Uttarakhand and people were facing many problems due to this.
Small traders and businessmen associated with tourism and hospitality sectors apart from common people are being directly affected by the paucity of the new high value currency in circulation, he said.

If this paucity continues for long it will affect supplies to the state, Rawat said.
Huge quantities of the new high value currency notes and adequate measure of low value currency need to be pumped into circulation to meet the requirements of businessmen and people in general, he said.
Rawat also asked the Centre to make a dichotomy between black money hoarders and people who had stashed away their hard earned money for emergencies so that they don't suffer along with black marketeers and those who amass huge wealth by unfair means.
