Dacoity bid foiled

of five members of a criminal gang, police today claimed to have foiled a major dacoity bid at Berhampur in Ganjam district of Odisha.

Police also seized a country-made gun, seven rounds of ammunition, two motor-cycles, a sword and some bomb making materials from the gang memebrs during a raid conducted at a hide-out yesterday, they said.

However, three other members of the gang managed to escape, said inspector in charge of town police station S S Mohapatra.
