Daimler India Commercial Vehicle (DICV) -- wholly owned subsidiary of Daimler AG -- which makes a range of commercial vehicles under Bharat Benz brand, would begin retailing trucks ranging from 9 to 49 tonnes to be available in Bharat Stage IV (BS IV) variants across the country.
The new variants of trucks will also meet the government's emission norms.
DICV that showcased its front engine 9T bus manufactured at the Chennai plant would also be capable of producing Bharat Stage IV variant of the school and staff bus applications, a company statement said.
In alignment with the government's move to regulate emissions, Daimler India would meet the norms using system derived from Bluetec technology proven in Daimler Vehicles.
DICV has tested the technology in domestic conditions before making it available in the market, it said.
"We are ready with our entire range of trucks adhering to the BSIV norms to capture a large market share. In India, pollution has been a rising concern and moving to Bharat Stage IV across the country has been a need of the hour", Daimler India Commercial Vehicle, Managing Director and CEO, Erich Nesselhauf said.
"As increasing number of cities are moving towards BSIV norms and with growing environmental concerns, we are committed towards bringing the most eco-friendly transportation solutions to the Indian bus market going forward", Daimler Buses India, Managing Director, Markus Villinger said.
Daimler India currently has a 400 acre manufacturing facility at Oragadam near here established at an investment of about Rs 4,400 crore.
Early this year, the company inaugurated the bus manufacturing facility set up at an additional investment of Rs 425 crore.
