To address the problems being faced by Pakistani Hindu migrants, authorities here have decided to give them unique identity numbers and create their database.
"Under this step, it will be looked that what benefits these migrants could be provided under government schemes," a senior official said.
The decision was taken at a meeting held in the office of Divisional Commissioner of Jodhpur with all the district collectors and SPs of the districts of the division present.
"In this fresh bid, all the migrants will be given a unique number for their identification by developing a software," said Divisional Commissioner Hemant Gera.
This will help developing a data base of all these people and will work as a ready reckoner while dealing with any issue pertaining to them, he said.
"With 1995 as the base year, we will divide them in three categories. The first category will comprise the migrants who are not yet citizen, second will comprise those who have not completed five years as the citizen and third will comprise those, who have completed five years," he said.
"After the database is prepared, we will proceed to hold camps for those who have completed seven years of stay in the country and are entitled for the citizenship," the officer said.
"This will help us in expediting and completing the formalities for the citizenship," he said.
