DCW seeks details on reservation policy for differently-abled

DCW chief Swati Maliwal has issued notice to the Principal Secretary (Services) in Delhi government over alleged non-implementation of three per cent reservation policy for differently-abled in government jobs.
The move comes in the wake of Delhi Commission for Women receiving complaints from differently-abled women of the national capital regarding insufficient employment opportunities for them.
"It has come to our notice that Delhi government's policy of providing three per cent reservation in government jobs to differently-abled persons is not being implemented properly.
"We have been informed by the Office of the Commissioner (Disabilities) that as of now 1,758 posts are lying vacant in various departments of Delhi government on which differently-abled persons were to be recruited, but the same has not happened till date," Maliwal said in the notice to principal secretary Rajendra Kumar.

"This is a very serious issue," the DCW chief said as she sought explanation from the authority over the vacant posts and no recruitments for the same.
She also sought details of the steps proposed by the Department to fill the vacancies and timeline set for the completion of these recruitments.
The Commission asked Kumar to send the details by December 11.
The Commission further recommended the department to take adequate steps and ensure that equal opportunities are provided for differently-abled women in the above mentioned recruitments.
