After the audience adulation over his back to back intense portrayals of a crusader jailor and angst-ridden doctor in 'Muktodhara' and 'Alik Sukh', Bengali thespian Debshankar Halder is all set to do varied roles as a radio station researcher and muslim faqir in two upcoming flicks.
"From the realistic genre I am now turning up in a hardcore commercial Arundhati in the garb of a fakir. In Ek Je Achhe Sahar again I am an FM station researcher who loves to observe people," noted theatre group Nandikar's production 'Sesh Sakhatkar' actor told PTI on the sets of the Ringo-directed film here.
Commenting that he had portrayed a wide range of roles from jailor, doctor, lawyer, musician to a very unconventional profession of radio station researcher, Nandikar's prominent face said, "I believe in creating an extended version of my own self."
"Also different individuals inhabit within one's self and we just compartmentalize," he said.
"It is the actor's job to exrtricate one of his selves in the portrayal and suppress other ones," the 'Bhalo Theko' actor said.
"While I keep observing people, including you, during interactions whenever I get into the skin of the character, the clinching factor is if that motivates me. But the old references do help in some way," Debshankar said.
Elaborating on the various shades of the radio researcher, he said, "He is an individualistic. Who takes his own decisions not impaired by his thoughts."
Debshankar, who will also turn up in famed Bengali writer Syed Mustafa Sriraj's 'Bhorer Bristi', said, "I visualize a character after reading a script. And if I find that motivating enough only then I give my consent."
About working experience with co-star Koel Mallick, in 'Arundhati', he said, "Koel is a disciplined actor. And if the director throws challenge to her she knows how to return that.
