Government said that there was a significant decline in the prices of many vegetables including onion, potato, tomato and cabbage in the month of December 2014 as compared to the average retail prices of these vegetables in December 2013.
"Prices of many vegetables have shown a declining trend in last 3 months," SS Yadav, commissioner of Food & Supply department, said.
Yadav also said that as per the price information collected from various markets of Delhi, there has been 31% decline in the price of cabbage, 20% decline in price of tomato and 10% decline in the price of onion in December 2014 as compared to the average retail price in December 2013.
He also said that action is also being taken by the Department of Food, Supply and Consumer Affairs against the traders involved in various malpractices and cheating of consumers.
"In the last 3 months, 1076 traders have been prosecuted under the Legal Metrology Act 2009 for various malpractices," he also added.
