Dead bodies of an old mother and her son were found in a decomposed state in their Bhusawal residence today morning, sources said.
According to Bazarpeth police neighbours near Mathais Building came across a foul smell at around 8 am from the closed resident of an old woman called Julie Mathew Daniel (82), who stayed with her son Movin Mathew Daniel (62).
They called the Bazarpeth police which broke open the house and found the bodies of Movin and his mother in a decomposed condition.
The old woman had retired from a local convent called Saint Aloysius School about 25 years ago, while Movin had also retired from Ordnance Factory Jabalpur as a supervisor, a few years ago.
Both of them resided in their own house called Mathais Building in Shivajinagar area of Bhusawal and were not in touch with neighbours, sources said.
Last week, Movin had gone to the market to get some brick for repair work in his house and he was slightly injured after he fell down in the market, after which he went home in an auto rikshaw, residents said.
After that incident, he was never seen by anybody in the area, sources said.
The police fot a post mortem done at Varangaon and then handed over their bodies for funeral.
Though the exact reason is yet to be acertained, the police said that their deaths may not be accidental, nor could foul play be involved.
Incidentally, residents said that the injured Movin would not have been able to get up from bed due to his injury and since the mother also did not get any food or water, she might have died on her bed itself.
