A delegation of MPs will visit the UK to study its renewable energy model and hold discussions on low carbon growth and climate change with their British counterparts.
The visit is being organised by Climate Parliament, an international network of cross-party Parliamentarians, in association with the British High Commission-India.
The delegation will include MPs J D Seelam, Botcha Jhansi Lakshmi, Vandana Chavan, Kalikesh Narayan Singh Deo, Ali Anwar Ansari and Alka Balram Kshatriya -- all members of Climate Parliament.
The three-day visit commencing tomorrow will facilitate the Parliamentarians' meetings with climate change and renewable energy experts, institutions, government bodies, legislators and ministers in the UK, a release issued by Climate Parliament said.
"It will exchange ideas on some of the key issues of regional and international co-operation, where legislative action is required," it said.
Zunaid Ahmed Palak and Murad Ali from Bangladesh, apart from Bernadine Rose Senanayake and Vijitha Herath from Sri Lanka are also part of the South Asia delegation of Climate Parliament.
Rajya Sabha MP Vandana Chavan told PTI that the UK has effectively brought down the use of fossil fuel which cause carbon emission and the visit to that country is a "wonderful opportunity to learn" about the steps they have taken for green growth.
The visit will help deepen Parliamentary understanding of the legislative options and challenges in the fields of renewable energy, climate change, energy security and low carbon growth, according to the release.
Union Ministers Milind Deora and Rajeev Shukla are patrons, while BJP MP and former Union Minister Rajiv Pratap Rudy is the Chairman of the Climate Parliament India Steering Committee.
