Delhi Assembly resolution asks Centre to take steps to prevent another Emergency

Delhi Assembly today passed three private members' resolutions including one requesting the central government to take appropriate steps for strengthening and betterment of the federal structure and democratic set-up to prevent any Emergency like situation in future.
The resolution on "Emergency like situation in present scenario" was moved by Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) MLA from Rajouri Garden Jarnail Singh. BJP MLA Jagdish Pradhan and AAP member Sanjeev Jha also moved two separate resolutions.
Singh said in view of the possibilities of situation like Emergency in the present scenario even after a long period of Independence, this House resolves that the Centre should take appropriate steps for strengthening and betterment of the federal structure and democratic setup by making necessary amendments in the Constitution to prevent such situation.
Citing the recent statement of senior BJP leader L K Advani that "forces that can crush democracy are stronger", Singh along with other MLAs spoke about how Delhi Government is unable to do transfer and posting of its officers.
Speaking on the resolution, Leader of Opposition Vijender Gupta said that there is an Emergency like situation in the assembly as he is not being allowed to speak.
BJP MLA Jagdish Pradhan moved a resolution on unauthorised colonies and said that development works have come to a standstill.
Another AAP MLA Sanjeev Jha also moved a resolution that the Delhi Development Authority should be transferred to the Delhi government immediately.
