Delhi BJP chief Vijender Gupta, slamming the Congress government for "failing" to regularise even a single colony in the last four years, said the Sheila Dikshit dispensation has now decided to initiate development keeping in view the next year's assembly polls.
"The government should tell the people by which date the unauthorised colonies will be regularised. Yesterday's government decision to expedite the regularisation process is nothing but putting old wine in new bottle," he said.
The Delhi cabinet had yesterday took a number of decisions aiming to expeditiously complete the regularisation process in over 1,000 unauthorised colonies which have been given clearences by all concerned departments and agencies.
"The government has been deliberately delaying the regularisation process. It has been cheating lakhs of people of unauthorized colonies. As the assembly polls are due next year, again the efforts have started to woo these residents," Gupta alleged.
Demanding grant of freehold rights of properties to the residents, Gupta also questioned the government's decision to finalise the boundaries of unauthorised colonies on the basis of the aerial map of 2007 instead of aerial map of 2002.
"Will the map of these colonies be required to be approved again? Why did it sit over the ariel photographs of the colonies for about five years? How will it complete all the legal formalities within two months now"? Gupta said. MORE
