"The Delhi government has taken a decision to go for a nominal cut of Rs 1.76 in petrol prices with a simultaneous increase of Rs 1.70 on CNG prices. BJP considers this as nothing but pure drama," BJP spokesperson Nirmala Sitharaman said.
The opposition maintained that since it is Congress which is in power both at the Centre and in Delhi, this step has no significance.
"When issues like Commonwealth Games, implementation of Shunglu Committee report and the like are raised, the government never gives such a quick response," she said.
BJP alleged that price of CNG- "which is the common man's fuel"- has been increased and this will lead to a hike in the fares for autorickshaws and buses.
"The ordinary person will be burdened," Sitharaman said.
The party also alleged that the Congress-led Sheila Dikshit government has made this move to get more votes but this would not happen.
"The hike in CNG will have a cascading effect on the prices of other commodities. This will give the government another opportunity to increase prices," the spokesperson said.
She asked the government to stop this "small drama" and also ensure that all corrupt ministers are made available for investigation against them.
