Transport Minister Satyendar Jain said the government was contemplating running new feeder buses on the routes. They would be operated by the Delhi Transport Corporation (DTC).
"We have studied that when the low-floor buses, which are large in size, run on roads that are 60-feet, or less, wide, they occupy most of the space and lead to traffic issues.
"Keeping this in mind, we have chalked out a plan to run feeder buses on such roads," Jain said.
"There are several routes where, except for morning and evening rush hours, DTC's low-floor buses ferry fewer number of passengers, causing loss of revenue to the government. Feeder buses will be run on these routes," the minister said.
Talking about the transport department's e-authority project, Jain said in next five or six months, every service of the department - issuance of driving license, registration of vehicles, or permits - will go online.
"As part of the e-authority project, we will minimise the role of motor licensing offices in regular-affair dealings to ensure zero tolerance for corruption at the RTOs.
Jain has directed senior officials of transport department to prepare a detailed plan to bring all services online.
