Delhi govt to scrutinise existing contracts with pvt players

In order to develop the city as a tourism hub, Delhi government has decided to scrutinise all existing agreements with private players signed during previous governments' regime in the national capital.
The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) government is also exploring new toursim opportunities to attract more tourists so that more funds could be generated.
"We have decided to scrutinise existing agreements which were signed with the governments in past because the AAP government wants to make Delhi a hub for tourists ," Tourism Minister Jitender Singh Tomar said.
Sources, however, said that if any deficiency is found during scrutiny, government may cancel their agreement with it.
Tomar said that several steps, including the development of a new Water Park in Najafgarh, are being to turn the city into a "tourism hub" on par with developed global cities.
According to the department, it is preparing a roadmap in this regard.
The minister said that new facility will also be introduced at tourism sites.
Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal was also in favour of making the city a hub for tourism, saying that it would magnify not only the pride of Delhi, but it would also create job opportunities.
At present, there are several tourism sites - Red Fort, Akshardham Temple, Birla Mandir, Dilli Haat, Garden of Five Senses, Humayun's Tomb, India Gate, Iskcon Temple, Jama Masjid, Jantar Mantar and Lodi Tomb .
"We are exploring new toursim opportunities to attract more tourists in the capital. Department is studying several project plans" the minister said.
The government has also planned to build a water sports park in Najafgarh area of south Delhi to people. The water sports park will be built at Chawala and Kangal Khedi of Najafgarah area.
