In a move to ensure better and comfortable services to its commuters, the Delhi Metro is planning to implement a host of new measures.
"The move is aimed at better handling of the passengers and comfortable services to all the public using the Delhi Metro," a DMRC spokesperson said.
On the Dilshad Garden to Rithala route, six coach trains will be introduced within next 3-4 months, he said, adding that presently, 29 four coach trains runs on this 25 km route, and ferries around 3.5 lakh passengers daily.
On Jahangirpuri to Huda City Centre route, six more trains are being converted to eight coach. Already 27 eight coaches trains have been pressed into service on this route.
These operate in such a way that during morning peak hours, Rajiv Chowk Metro station gets two eight coaches trains out of every three trains approaching the station, the spokesperson said.
Two additional trips will be started from tomorrow from Kashmere Gate towards Gurgaon direction, which is also the busiest section, from 9:00 AM to 10:00 AM, to clear the passengers rush.
Meanwhile, on the Dwarka Sec-21 to Noida City Centre/Vaishali route, two eight coaches trains have already been introduced in service.
Further, 29 more such trains will be inducted into service on the route, he said.
From tomorrow, two additional trains will be inducted during peak time, one from Janakpuri West to Vaishali and one from Noida Sec-16 to Dwarka Sec-21 for clearing the peak hour passengers rush, the spokesman added.
The Delhi Metro's network is among the fastest growing metro networks in the world. It has grown to 190 kms of operational network since it has started its operations in 2002 and presently carrying around 25 lakh passengers every day.
