"We had deployed 2,500 officials from police districts and equal number from Traffic department across the city today to prevent any incident of hooliganism during Holi," a senior Delhi Police official said, adding that Quick Response Teams (QRTs) have also been deployed at strategic points to deal with any untoward incident.
"Officers up to the rank of Deputy Commissioner conducted patrolling throughout the day to ensure that no hooliganism takes place, with heightened vigil on instances of harassment of women on the pretext of celebrations," the official said.
In the morning, Delhi Police Commissioner Alok Kumar Verma wished a "Happy Holi" to the 80,000 strong force over wireless and emphasised on the need of police officials developing empathy and good behaviour to develop goodwill among the mass.
