In a complaint to the Vigilance Branch of Delhi Police, a complainant said that in a minor quarrel involving boys in New Ashok Nagar, on November 6, he was called by the head constable of New Ashok Nagar police station, Harbir, who threatened to implicate him a fake case and demanded the bribe of Rs 20,000, said R K Jha, DCP of Vigilance Branch.
The Vigilance team accompanied by the complainant and witnesses reached the area where Harbir had directed him to give the money to his accomplice Bhola, a juice vendor.
He was caught by the cops while taking the money from the complainant. The head constable was later also arrested, Jha said.
A case has been registered under relevant Sections of Prevention of Corruption Act, 1988, at Vigilance Unit police station and investigation is on, Jha added.
