SI Pawan, a native of Bihar, was found lying unconscious in a pool of blood at his house in Triveni Apartment in Vivek Vihar area this evening, police said.
According to police, Pawan's wife, who along with their children is on a visit to Bihar for Chhat Puja, had been trying to reach him on his mobile phone since morning. Worried, she called up their neighbour who then broke open the door of their house and found Pawan in a pool of blood.
Police suspect that Pawan in an inebriated condition fell from a particular height and died due to internal injuries.
However, the exact cause of death would be established only after an autopsy, police said, adding that further probe was underway.
The body of Pawan, who joined the Delhi Police in 1997, has been kept at a government hospital and the postmortem would be conducted after his family returns back to the capital.
