The event, which will be held on December 31, will be attended by Home Minister Rajnath Singh along with ministers of state Kiren Rijiju and Hansraj Gangaram Ahir, a senior police officer said.
Since the function will be held on a grand scale, the annual press conference of Delhi Police Commissioner Alok Kumar Verma that was supposed to held on January 3, 2017 has now been postponed to January 10, sources said.
"This is a first of its kind event being organised by Delhi Police. In the last decade, more than 60,000 personnel have been promoted and out of these, the maximum have happened in this year. Personnel from the ranks of head constables to ACPs will be awarded ranks in the function," the officer said.
There are 24 personnel who have been chosen and in a symbolic gesture they will be given ranks in the function to be held at the Indira Gandhi Stadium. The event will also witness the presence of the families of these personnel.
To meet the prolonged demand of police personnel for improvement in promotional prospects, the force this year issued promotions in almost all the ranks of Delhi Police. The move is an effort to improve the morale and professional standard of the police force.
There was stagnation in other ranks as well. This was adversely affecting the morale of the police force, he added.
