Delhi sizzles under hottest day in May in a decade

The national capital today experienced the hottest day this summer with the mercury touching the 45.7 degree Celsius mark, the highest for the month of May in a decade.
The maximum temperature was recorded six degrees above normal at 45.7 deg C. Yesterday, the maximum was 44.9 deg C.
The minimum temperature was recorded at 31.4 degrees Celsius, as against yesterday's 30.3 deg C. The minimum was also five degrees above normal.
The humidity level hovered between 41 and 18 per cent.
According to MeT department data, today was the hottest day for month of May since 2003. The previous highest temperature for May was in 2010 when it was recorded at 45.4 degrees Celsius.
The all-time record for the hottest in May is of 47.2 degrees Celsius recorded on May 29, 1944.
There would be no respite from the heatwave conditions which would continue and the maximum and minimum temperatures are likely to remain at 45 and 32 degrees Celsius respectively.
This year, the mercury breached the 45 degree mark on May 21 when it was recorded at 45.1 deg C.
