"The re-evaluation of answer sheets, which had become infructuous because of introduction of checking of answer sheets by multiple examiners, will be reverted back and answer sheets will be examined by single examiner," Joint Registrar (Academic) Ram Dutt said in an official notification today.
DU had last year decided to scrap the re-evaluation system and replace it with a 're-checking' practice wherein only the totalling errors were to be rectified and all other requests were not to be entertained as the answer sheets had already been evaluated at multiple levels.
"The students could apply for re-evaluation only in case of error in totalling of marks or any question has not been evaluated. However, the system didn't allow redressal of unjustified allocation of marks," Delhi University Students Union (DUSU) President Mohit Nagar said.
DU authorities said that the decision has been made taking cognisance of a large number of representations received from students in the matter.
"The procedure and guidelines of re-evaluation will be laid down by the university soon," the Joint Registrar said.
"The attendance of such students will be counted from date of their admission and their internal assessment will be conducted by college or they will be awarded internal assessment marks as per approved procedure by University," the notification said.
The last date for submission of admission and examination forms for such students is October 29, 2014.
