Deputy Commissioners to monitor de-silting

Pursuing the direction of Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal and Irrigation Minister Janmeja Singh Sekhon, all the MLAs have been entrusted the responsibility of cross checking the progress in their respective constituency, an official spokesman said here today.

Special committees have been constituted under the chairmanship of DCs concerned, which are responsible for the implementation this project before the onslaught of Monsoon.

The strengthening of canal embankments was in progress on a "war-footing" and would be completed within the stipulated timeframe, he said.
