Deputy Registrar caught accepting bribe of Rs 35,000
Press Trust of India Seoni (MP) A Deputy Registrar has been caught by Madhya Pradesh Lokayukta Police while allegedly accepting a bribe of Rs 35,000.
R S Rai had demanded the bribe to facilitate registration of a piece of land purchased by a local resident, a senior Lokayukta Police officer said.
The man agreed to pay the amount and at the same time lodged a complaint with the anti-corruption agency.
Rai, posted in Lakhnadoun town near here, was trapped yesterday by Lokayukta sleuths when he was accepting the bribe money from the complainant.
Lokayukta Deputy Superintendent of Police N S Dhurve said a case under the Prevention of Corruption Act has been registered against Rai and further investigation in the matter was on.
