Addressing an orientation programme of Vidhayak Adarsh Gram Yojana here, he said if people want to the country and state to be happy and prosperous, there is first a need to develop the villages.
The chief minister said Vidhayak Adarsh Gram Yojana aims at ensuring the socio-economic development of villages by ensuring active participation of people.
Under the scheme each MLA would have to develop three villages by September, 2019. The first village will have be developed by March, 2017, second by September, 2018 and third by September, 2019.
The MLAs will have to choose first village by December 1, 2015, second by May 1, 2016 and third by November 1, 2017.
Villages with population ranging between 3,000-7,000 in ground areas and between 1,000-3,000 in hilly areas could be taken up by the MLAs for development, Khattar said.
Besides the implementation of Vidhayak Adarsh Gram Yojana and Saansad Adarsh Gram Yojana, prominent personalities, who are residents of village but settled in other parts of country or abroad, will also be asked to adopt their village.
Similarly, educational institutes like universities, colleges, social organisations, NGOs and religious organisations could also be roped in for this purpose.
The chief minister asked the MLAs to identify such persons and organisations in their respective assembly constituencies and persuade them to adopt villages.
