Dhruv Kapoor's ode to the modern women at AIFW

Designer Dhruv Kapoor's latest line at the ongoing Amazon India Fashion Week (AIFW) had the perfect recipe of an autumn-winter line with the usage of warm colours and layered looks.
The collection, however, seemed incohesive and failed to find fans among the spectators.
The designer took inspiration from the Victorian era and chose the theme of celebration of women for his collection, which he presented through a series of separates on the ramp.
Dhruv, who is the winner of the Vogue Fashion Fund, said he tried to get a amalgamation of the past and the present through his collection. He chose to showcase his line through a mix of evening wear and sports garments.

"It represents the modern woman. The inspiration has been the coming together of the past and present. The silhouettes have been a mix of evening wear and sports wear," Dhruv told reporters after the show.
The fabrics were made by the designer himself and featured modern materials like plastic, nylon, polyester besides faux fur, which was used in ample.

"The fur element was added to show luxury in my line," the designer said.
The colour palette was synonymous to the season with blues, musrtards, blacks and maroons taking prominence among other hues like oranges and whites.
The designer kept the accessories minimum with only glasses and silver-toned earrings featuring alongside the clothes which were mainly long gowns, playful skirts teamed with long jackets, bomber jackets and faux fur wraps on the shoulder.

There were a couple of unflattering sequined pallazos and all-silver leatherish skirts and jacket combos which seemed redundant.
