Dialogue is the solution to political problems, not guns: Mehbooba Mufti

She said dialogue and reconciliation are the only options for finding a solution

Condemning the militant attack in Pampore town, PDP president Mehbooba Mufti today said gun was not the solution to political problems which can be resolved through dialogue and reconciliation.

"Kashmir is going through a vicious circle of death and destruction for more than three decades and it has only brought miseries to the people.

"The perpetrators of violence must realise that it is not through the gun and grenade that political problems are resolved. Dialogue and reconciliation are the only options for finding a solution," Mehbooba said.

The PDP president expressed shock and grief over the killing of security personnel and a civilian in the ongoing encounter at Entrepreneurship Development Institute (EDI) building.

"No religion allows such dastardly acts of violence which lead to spilling of innocent blood and bringing enormous tragedies to the families of the victims," she said, adding that such acts of violence were not only aimed at disrupting peace but also weakening the state's economy and destroying its infrastructure.

She also expressed solidarity with the victims' families and prayed for the departed souls and early recovery of the injured.
