Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit today announced a new revenue management system of Delhi Jal Board under which people will be able to track their water bills online and even receive SMSes on payment of outstanding amount.
In a statement in the assembly, Dikshit also announced that DJB has decided to provide relief to the consumers by waiving off their accumulated late payment surcharge and allowing them to make payment of only actual arrears in maximum six instalments by March 31, 2014. The relief would come into effect from April 1.
She said there may be billing error due to transition to the new revenue management system as a huge data base is being transferred to the new system.
Dikshit, who is also chairperson of DJB, said domestic consumers will be allowed to make payment of actual arrears as reflected in the current bill and they will not have to make payment of accumulated late payment surcharge.
In case, the consumers make payment of full arrears by July 31, they would become entitled to a further rebate of 30 per cent of the billed amount.
The Chief Minister said DJB has decided to grant unconditional waiver of full late payment surcharge levied on water bills for consumers in Jhughi Jhopri and Resettlement colonies.
They have also been given facility to make payment of actual arrears in instalments like other consumers. The consumers in 'jhughi jhopri' and resettlement colonies would also be eligible to a further rebate of 30 per cent on their actual arrears, in case, they pay their full arrears by July 31.
