With Arvind Kejriwal asking people to reconnect power connections snapped by authorities for non-payment of bills, three distribution companies supplying electricity in the city today urged consumers not to do so as it may lead to "life threatening" accidents.
"We have noted with concern that our esteemed consumers are being exhorted upon to interfere with our electricity network and draw power from legally disconnected connections," a statement issued by BSES Rajdhani Power Ltd, BSES Yamuna Power Ltd and Tata Power Delhi Distribution Ltd said.
Urging the consumers not to compromise their safety, they said electricity distribution networks need to be handled by qualified, trained and authorised persons only as fiddling with them by untrained persons could lead to "potentially life threatening accidents".
"Delhi Discoms once again advise their consumers not to allow unauthorised personnel to handle the metering and allied electrical apparatus. It may be noted that any unauthorised access to our network will render the consumer liable under the applicable laws of the various acts," the statement said.
Aam Admi Party leader Kejriwal, who is on an indefinite fast for last 15 days protesting protesting "inflated" power and water bills in the city, has been asking people to reconnect power connections disconnected by authorities for non-payment of bills.
Kejriwal today said he will end his fast tomorrow and launch the second phase of 'Civil Disobedience Movement' under which party activists will visit every ward and reconnect power and water connections snapped by authorities for non-payment of bills.
