Ramesh Chavda, who represents Kadi seat in Mehsana district, and Manibhai Vaghela, the MLA from Vadgam in Banaskantha district, yesterday sent two separate letters, having identical content, to the Chief Minister's Office.
"On the occasion of the 126th birth anniversary of Dr Babasaheb Ambedkar on April 14, the government organises various programmes. However, Ambedkar's photo is missing from almost all major public places and offices, where a large number of people pay visit every day," Vaghela wrote.
Chavda and Vaghela appealed to the government to issue a notification implementing their demand.
"If government wants to pay real tribute to Ambedkar on April 14, then it should announce that his photos will be put on walls of every school, police station, Panchayat office and all major government offices," the letters stated.
"If the government takes such decision, it will send a positive message to dalit community. Future generations too would remember Ambedkar's work after watching his photos at such places," they stated.
