DJB's Leak Detection and Investigation Cell, last month had launched a drive to keep a check on unauthorised water connections, misuse of permitted water charges categories, along with other irregularities in violation of the Boards' rules.
According to a senior DJB official, the drive, from May 15 to June 29 has checked 1,213 properties in total, and has issued on site 372 challans to defaulters.
A total of 89 unauthorised water connections and 38 unauthorised sewer connections were also detected during the drive.
Officials said, this month (June) alone inspection teams checked a total of 977 properties and 300 challans were issued on site to defaulters. The teams reported 125 cases of misuse of category.
"The Board has been taking strong measures to curb the misuse of water. The enforcement drive will prove to be a strong deterrent against the misuse and wastage of water," a senior DJB official said.
DJB had constituted a special inspection team of three Assistant Engineers and a Junior Engineer to carry out the enforcement drive, which was carried out in several blocks of Lajpat Nagar and in all blocks of Green Park and Greater Kailash respectively.
