Seeking to corner the government in the House, DMK members today engaged in a verbal duel with the Speaker P Dhanapal, urging him to allow an expunged remark made by a CPI(M) MLA against a state body to go on record.
Participating in a discussion on a calling attention motion on the drinking water situation in the assembly, CPI(M) MLA K Balabharathy made a sharp remark against a state body, which was expunged by the Speaker.
She made the remark while referring to the drinking watersituation in her constituency Dindigul and then sat down.
DMK members immediately were on their feet, hailing theremark and wanted the Speaker to allow it to go on the Assembly Record of Proceedings.
As he declined, the DMK members, led by floor leader M K Stalin staged a walkout, shouting slogans against the Speaker.
