In the order issued this week, Forum President M Y Mankar and members Madhuri S Vishwarupe and N D Kadam have ordered the doctor - Atin Shah to pay compensation to Keshav G Shinde.
It also ordered Shah to pay an additional Rs 10,000 as expenses of litigation by October end or else pay an interest of 6 per cent per annum till the realisation of the amount.
During the treatment, a catheter was inserted in his penis which led to problems with urination. As he could not afford costly treatment, he was admitted to another hospital.
He was later admitted to two different hospitals but natural process of urination could not be restored.
"Even if the complainant has not not given any direct evidence, the act of the doctor of discharging and shifting the patient to the other hospital without any referral note, or without finding the cause of extreme pain and bleeding, is surely an act of negligence by the doctor" the order stated.
