Doctors under the banner of All India Foreign Medical Graduate Association (AIFMGA) demonstrated in front of the Union Health Ministry at Nirman Bhavan to press for their demands.
The protest started around 2 PM and a police team was deployed at the spot, who took the protesters to Tughlaq Road police station, where they were detained for several hours, said a police official.
"There are prohibitory orders against any large gathering in the concerned area where the doctors had demonstrated their protest. They were detained in view of law and order issues and released in the evening," said DCP (New Delhi) Jatin Narwal.
"However, the protest -- which may soon turn into an indefinite hunger strike shall continue, no matter what," Kumar added.
The Foreign medical graduates examination is conducted by the National Board of Examinations (NBE).
