Senior Congress leader and former Jammu and Kashmir chief minister Ghulam Nabi Azad today urged the electorate to not vote for parties which were trying to polarise the state for their vote bank politics.
"Exploitative forces are trying hard to divide people on religious lines by spreading misinformation about the achievements of Congress-led government. However, the wise people of the state will not allow such forces to succeed as there is a groundswell to revive that era of progress and development which Congress-led government demonstrated in a span of two and a half years," Azad said addressing election rallies in the Chenab Valley.
Without naming any political party, he said some political parties and their leaders were using every possible method and means to divide the people to gain electoral victories.
"Chenab Valley will expose the nefarious designs of such power hungry parties on the day of poll by voting in favour of Congress," he said.
"I would like to inform the people of Chenab Valley that concerted attempts are being made to derail the process of progress and development in this mountainous belt by way of polarisation and division," he said.
Urging the people to give decisive mandate to Congress to usher in an era of progress and prosperity, Azad said the party successfully gave a new paradigm of governance and fast-track development to Jammu and Kashmir, based on equity and justice to all regions and sections.
Azad promised the people of that if voted to power Congress would convert Chenab valley into 'model region' of the state.
