A Detailed Project Report will soon be prepared on laying exclusive piping network to supply water to industries in the proposed Chennai Bangalore Industrial Corridor (CBIC), Minister for Municipal Administration S P Velumani told the State Assembly today.
It has been estimated that approximately 645 million litres of water will be required for industries that are likely to come up in the CBIC, Velumani said.
"A DPR will be prepared on setting up a piping network to provide water for industries by integrating water resources, including supplies from the Gowvarapalli Dam," he said.
Allocation of Rs.4.50 crore will be made for providing self-defence training for women members of 4,174 Village Poverty Eradication Sangam and Panchayat-level Self Help Groups, he said.
Planting saplings on both sides of roads under the control of Highways Department for a length of 500 km at a cost of Rs 7.92 crore and setting up plastic recycling centres in five districts, including Nilgiris and Ariyalur at a total cost of Rs 20 lakh were among the other announcements he made.
Earlier, he described as not true statements of DMK President M Karunanidhi and PMK chief Ramadoss on cement price.
"The discounted cement price in Telangana is applicable only for contractors and builders and not for common consumers."
While cement was being sold at Rs.270 a bag in Tamil Nadu, in states like Kerala it was between Rs.320-340, he said.
