Drug peddler held with 1.5 kgs of charas in Jammu

An alleged drug peddler was arrested and 1.5 kilograms of charas was recovered from his possession here Saturday, police said.

Ashok Kumar, a resident of Akhnoor, tried to escape after a passenger vehicle he was travelling in was stopped by police for checking at Rajeev Chowk in the city, a police official said.

However, he was overpowered and his search led to the recovery of the contraband, he said, adding that a case under the the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act was registered against him.
