Welcoming the 75th batch of students at the prestigious engineering institution, Kumar said, "Wherever there are opportunities there are challenges. Higher education is going through rapid and dramatic transformation."
"While technology is influencing the work phenomenon, traditional intellectual fields are shifting and converging and hence public expectations as well as global demands of higher education are intensive".
From the current session, the university has introduced a new methodology in undergraduate teaching and continuous evaluation, laying emphasis on developing analytical and professional skills and challenging the students globally and intellectually.
"The new curriculum includes right combination of foundation courses and departmental electives which are reflective of new methodology in undergraduate teaching which focuses on continuous evaluation," Kumar added.
DTU, formerly known as Delhi College of Engineering(DCE), is a premiere Delhi Government university.
It offers courses including BTech, MTech, PhD and MBA programmes and contains fourteen academic departments with an emphasis on scientific and technological education and research.
70 students have been admitted upto the third round for admission to the MBA program based on their CAT scores.
The Vice Chancellor also informed the students that the varsity adopts a zero-tolerance policy towards ragging and they should refrain from indulging in any such activity.
The message was also shared by Vikramjeet Singh, DCP (Outer), who was also present at the welcome ceremony.
