A professor of Delhi University's Hindu College has accused a colleague of sexual harassment who in turn alleged that he is being targeted by the administration for being a Dalit.
The woman alleged in a complaint to the college authorities that the professor harassed her and passed vulgar comments when she had gone to intervene in some "unauthorised work" being done by him.
The professor concerned maintained that the complaint against him was "fake" and a conspiracy was being hatched against him by the college administration because he is a Dalit.
"I am being harassed by the college administration because of my caste. I am being targeted because I have been vocal about the illegitimate appointment of guest lecturers. They want me to be silent and take back my complaints. To pressure me, they have filed a fake case against me," he told a press conference.
Repeated calls and text messages to college principal Anju Srivastava seeking her reaction on the issue went unanswered.
