Dust storm and rain in Delhi

A dust storm accompanied by light rains swept the national capital today bringing much-awaited respite to Delhiites from the oppressive heat as the maximum temperature dropped to settle at 40.9 degrees Celsius.
The Safdarjung observatory, figure of which is considered the official figure for the city, recorded 0.8 mm rainfall till 5.30 PM while the areas under Lodhi Road, Ayanagar and Ridge observatories recorded showers measuring 0.8mm, 0.3mm and 1.4 mm respectively.
The weather station at Palam received traces of rainfall in the same period.
The Met Office has forecast rains for tomorrow as well.
"The skies will be partly cloudy. Light rains and thunder storm is likely occur in some areas towards evening and night tomorrow," the Met forecast said.
According to the Met offical, the Safdarjung observatory recorded a maximum temperature of 40.9 degrees Celsius, a notch above the season's average, while the minimum temperature settled at 30.5 degrees, four notches above the normal.
The Palam observatory registered a maximum temperature of 42.3 degrees Celsius, the official said.
"Overnight showers are also likely in some areas," he added.
The humidity level oscillated between 68 per cent and 37 per cent.
Tomorrow the maximum and minimum temperatures are expected to hover at 38 and 25 degrees Celsius, respectively.
Yesterday, the maximum temperature was recorded at 42.7 degrees Celsius,while the minimum had settled at 28.8 degrees Celsius.
