Dwarka diplomatic enclave to be modelled on Shanti Path

The upcoming diplomatic enclave in Dwarka is set to be modelled on the scenic Shanti Path currently housing over 60 diplomatic missions.
The sprawling 70-acre diplomatic enclave had been identified by the Delhi Development Authority (DDA) in Dwarka phase II in 2007, but the allotment had been delayed.
The External Affairs Ministry has approached the maintenance department of the New Dellhi Municipal Council (NDMC) seeking their expertise in recreating the diplomatic complex.
"We have been approached by the MEA in connection with the project and our engineers will be working for establishment and maintenance of the stretches. It would come up on the lines of existing diplomatic complex on Shantipath," sources in NDMC said.

The diplomatic enclave of Chankayapuri houses more than 60 diplomatic missions. But embassies of over 40 countries including Serbia, Zimbabwe, Egypt and Croatia, function from rented apartments in other South Delhi colonies. These embassies would be the first to get the priority in the new diplomatic area.
DDA officials said they are in consultation with the MEA officials the and process of finalising the demarcated plots is on.
"The plots are almost ready and further details of the project are being worked out. Around 40 plots have been demarcated for the enclave," a senior DDA official said.
The diplomatic complex in Chanakypuri was developed by CPWD in 1950s housing embassies, chanceries, high commissions and ambassador residences. The enclave is built around a wide central vista known as Shanti Path with wide green landscaped areas.
