Bihar Deputy Chief Minister Sushil Kumar Modi today refused to join issues with Chief Minister Nitish Kumar on his dig at his Gujarat counterpart Narendra Modi's credentials as belonging to extremely backward castes (EBC).
"I will not add anything more on the issue than what I have already said at a BJP function on May 1," he told reporters.
Modi also stonewalled questions on BJP's prime ministerial candidate saying that he has nothing more to say in the matter.
Kumar had yesterday said that the list of EBCs could be at variance in different states after reporters sought his response to his deputy's take about the presence of a number of prominent EBC leaders in BJP, including the Gujarat CM.
He had also asked those present to cross check the castes from different states in the EBC list to verify status of a particular person.
Sushil Modi, who is also a senior BJP leader, had last week ruffled NDA senior coalition partner JD(U)'s feathers by claiming that his party had a number of prominent EBC leaders, including chief ministers of Gujarat and Madhya Pradesh and an EBC leader from it could emerge as its prime ministerial candidate.
