Designer Tarun Tahiliani feels separates have become a trend as they can be paired with different silhouettes, giving an outfit a fresh and youthful simplicity.
"I think easy to wear separates have become a trend. They can be paired with different silhouettes like dhoti pants, lungi skirts, tunics, t-shirts, innovative kurtas and asymmetrical hemlines for a fresh and youthful simplicity," Tahiliani told PTI.
The designer says fashion has become much more subtle thanks to separates as now one can individualise a look rather than wearing a garment from just one designer.
"It's now much subtler and chic and you can mix and match, not just once, it's the look, when you buy this skirt, this pair of pants, mix it with something, individualise it, so you are not wearing a look from one designer."
Tahiliani will be showcasing his latest Spring Summer line at the Lakme Fashion Week to begin here from February 1.
The collection is called 'ChashmeShahi' and is inspired by Mughal gardens and architecture. It will feature regular Spring elements like draping, flowers and delicate chikankari.
"As dressing in the day becomes more casual, the collections move more towards the evening - changes in lifestyle heralds a change in fashion. The line is skillfully presented in an array of elegant cool garments to create an offering reminiscent of summer and all that it brings with it."
Tahiliani's colour palette is inspired by new and classic shades consisting of whites, creams, beige, jade and black interspersed with pops of colour.
Lehenga-skirts, kurtas, concept saris and asymmetrical hemlines form the basic crux of silhouettes of the collection.
Talking about the fabrics, the designer says, "Handloom sarees, kurtas, off shoulder tops and tunics in soft cottons, silk georgettes, chanderi and crepe jerseys radiate sheer sophistication and chicness - translating signature daywear looks into evening wear.
