EC issues notification for Srinagar Parliamentary seat

Election Commission today issued notification for Srinagar Parliamentary constituency in Jammu and Kashmir where more than 96 per cent polling stations have been categorised as hypersensitive or sensitive.
According to the notification issued by returning officer Farooq Ahmad Shah, the last date for filing of nominations for the Srinagar Lok Sabha seat is April 9 while the scrutiny of nomination papers will be conducted on April 10.
The last date for withdrawal of nominations is April 12 while the polling will be held on April 30.
The Srinagar Lok Sabha seat which will go to polls on April 30 is spread over three districts of Srinagar, Budgam and Ganderbal - has 11.71 lakh voters who are eligible to cast their votes at 1546 polling stations to be set up in the constituency.
Shah said of the 1546 polling stations, only 3.5 per cent have been declared as normal.
"According to the security agencies, 1021 polling stations have been declared as hypersensitive and 470 as sensitive," the returning officer said.
He said 18 polling stations will be set up for migrant voters of the Lok Sabha constituency in Jammu, Udhampur and Delhi.
"Thirteen polling stations will be set up in Jammu, one in Udhampur and four in Delhi," he said.
Shah said the election authorities have so far issued electoral photo-identity cards (EPICs) to 91 per cent of the electorate and the backlog shall be cleared 10 days before the polling day.
"There is tremendous demand for the EPICs and we hope to complete the process 10 days before the polling takes place," he added.
