EC notifies TN assembly secy Jamaludden as Returning Officer

Election Commission of India has notified the Tamil Nadu Assembly Secretary A M P Jamaluddeen as Returning Officer for the February 7 Biennial elections.
"The Election Commission of India has notified the Secretary, Tamil Nadu Legislative Assembly Secretariat (Jamaludeen) as the Returning Officer for the Biennial Elections to the Council of States from Tamil Nadu," a release from the office of Chief Electoral Officer Praveen Kumar said.
The terms of six Rajya Sabha MPs - N Balaganga (AIADMK), A A Jinnah and Vasanthi Stanley (both DMK), G K Vasan and Jayanthi Natarajan (both Congress) and CPI-M's T K Rangarajan end by April 2, 2014.

DMK has already announced Tiruchi N Siva as its candidate.
Nominations could be submitted from January 21-28, 2014, except January 26 as it was a Sunday, the release said.
Scrutiny of nominations would be taken up on Jan 29 while the last date for withdrawal of candidatures would be Jan 31.
Polling, "if necessary," will be held on Feb 7, 2014 at the "Legislature Committee Room" in the Secretariat, it added.
