Education holds the key to transformation of Delhi and is the solution to all problems faced by the society, Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia today said.
"Long-term solutions for corruption, crimes against women, regionalism, casteism and racism all lie within our education system, and this is what we need to work on," Sisodia, who is also the Education Minister, said.
Stressing on the significance of education in the transformation of Delhi and the larger society, he said, "Problems and crisis in our society are a reflection of where our education system has fallen short."
Inaugurating a workshop for education officials and government school principals, Sisodia proposed for reducing the load of the curriculum by at least 25 percent, so that the space and time available in schooling can be used for the holistic development of the students.
He also called upon them to work on his other proposal of emphasis on skills and vocational training as a part of school curriculum and giving separate certificates for academic performance and skills to students.
Sisodia advocated flexible transition between academic and vocational education so that students have the possibility of acquiring skills and re-entering academics at a later stage, or moving from academic to vocational at multiple points during school and higher education.
