Shirodkar started her journey in Bollywood with 1989 film "Bhrashtachar" before starring in '90s hits like "Kishen Kanhaiya", "Hum" and "Gopi Kishan". She left Bollywood in 2000 after marrying merchant banker Apresh Ranjit.
The actress will be seen playing the role of a Mumbai domestic worker in the Zee TV show, which is expected to air by next month.
"It would be stupid if I say that I should start from where I left. I have changed and evolved. I have to make a new beginning and this show is a fresh start for me," Shirodkar told PTI in an interview.
"As an actor it is my privilege to play this role and I am hoping it will bring change. I am blessed to be performing Kamla Bai which is going to reach every home. As an actor it is a brilliant opportunity.
