Elderly man arrested with heroin worth Rs 3 crore
Narain Dass was apprehended from Dwarka yesterday on a tip-off that a man will come to deliver a consignment of drugs to his contact, Deputy Commissioner of Police (Crime) Sanjay Kumar Jain said.
One kg of heroin was recovered allegedly from Dass while another two kg was seized from his house in Karala village.
"Dass stepped into the shoe of his elder brother who used to sell drugs. His two brothers died due to drug addiction. He was arrested earlier twice in drug trafficking cases and is facing trial. He used to obtain his supply through his contacts based in UP," he said.
According to Delhi Police statistics, investigators have seized 110 kg charas, 1,294 kg ganja, 20 kg smack/heroin, 1.5 kg cocaine and huge quantity of psychotropic substances till June 30 this year.
At least 657 drug traffickers have been arrested so far this year in the capital.
