Rajasthan has recorded a decline of five per cent in electricity losses on account of wastage and leakage.
At a meeting of engineers of the Jodhpur Discom here, Rajasthan Minister of State for Energy Pushpendra Singh Ranawat said, "This reduction in losses has resulted in a profit of Rs 1,800 crore to the state."
He attributed this achievement to the ambitious Feeder Renovation Programme.
"Chief Minister Vasundhara Raje had asked us to bring down the losses in Bithur of Ajmer district, which had been a victim of excessive leakage of electricity, and under this programme, we brought down the leakage by 48 per cent," he said.
He said that the government had been making efforts to provide electricity connection in remote areas under the Deendayal Gram Jyoti Yojna. He said five lakh connections have been given so far under the scheme.
