The six-month-old female calf, probably separated from its herd, was found roaming near Kusumpur village under Keshiari police station for the past three days.
The villagers informed the forest department and its personnel then caught the baby elephant which is in good health.
It was brought to the Jhargram Mini Zoo which also functions as a rescue centre for animals, the officials said, adding, the future of the calf would be decided later.
Earlier in February, another baby elephant was rescued by wildlife personnel from Sankrail forest in the district and taken to the Jhargram Mini Zoo.
