Encephalitis claims one more life; toll mounts to 275

Additional Director (Health) Diwakar Prasad said a child from Deoria district died of the disease last night at BRD Medical College Hospital here.

Thirty new patients were admitted during the weekend, he said, adding, about 270 encephalitis patients were being treated at BRD MCH and the adjoining district hospitals.

As many as 1,650 encephalitis patients were admitted this year to various government hospitals, out of which 275 have succumbed to the deadly disease.
